Eliza Pace had a special interest for Alan Lomax because she was the only Kentucky singer he recorded who had also sung for English folk song scholar Cecil Sharp in 1917. Sharp and Lomax were equally appreciative of her songs and reputation as a moonshiner. Lomax recorded 45 songs from Eliza, some of which she claimed she had forgotten to sing for Sharp.
